One of a Kind

Not mass-made. Just for you.

Some things in life are just objects, replaceable, forgettable.
But not this.

The Seika ceramic coffee cup and saucer set is made for those who value the rare and the real.
Each cup is handcrafted, one by one, in small batches. Its surface is marked by ceramic crazing, a natural pattern of lines that can never be replicated, only revealed by fire and time.
This isn’t mass production. It’s quiet mastery, fine example of Japanese ceramics.
No two pieces are ever the same ……and neither are you!

If you believe beauty should have meaning, and the things you live with should reflect who you are, then this set of Japanese coffee cups is yours.
You don’t need to explain why you want something special.
You just deserve it.

Quiet Moments Matter

More Than a Coffee Break

In the rush of modern life, finding time for yourself can feel impossible. But even a short pause, a sip, a moment of stillness, can bring clarity. The Seika set was made for that: more than just a ceramic coffee cup set, it’s an invitation to slow down.
Perfect for your morning coffee, a slow pour, or even as an alternative to your favourite ceramic espresso cups, it blends everyday function with the depth of Japanese crafts.
Each cup is handmade in small batches, with soft irregularities that reflect the essence of wabi sabi pottery, the beauty of imperfection, the elegance of the unrepeatable.

Taichi Kawai, the artist behind these works, hopes his ceramics will be used every day. But more than that, he hopes you'll stop, just for a second, and think: How beautiful this is.
As light moves across the surface, the colors shift, the reflections soften, and time seems to slow. That fleeting stillness, he says, is what makes the piece alive.

Where Earth Becomes Art

From Kyoto, with Stillness and Fire

Seika is crafted at Usurai Pottery, the Kyoto studio of master potter Taichi Kawai, whose career bridges deep tradition and quiet innovation.
A graduate of the Kyoto Institute of Traditional Crafts, Kawai refined his artistry in Shigaraki, one of Japan’s Six Ancient Kilns, before founding his own atelier.
Rooted in the legacy of Japanese artisans, Kawai-san developed a personal signature through the ceramic crazing of his creations. Known as kannyū (貫入) in Japan, this rare glaze crackle technique forms a delicate web of translucent lines beneath the surface, subtle and beautiful, like ice just beginning to melt.
Kawai-San's work explores the quiet place where form and light meet, shifting gently with time, touch, and use.

Cultural Notes

Coffee Meets Craft. The Japanese Way

Although coffee was not traditionally part of Japanese life, it has become a quiet daily ritual for many, alongside tea and matcha. In response, Japanese artisans have adapted their practice, expanding beyond the classic yunomi tea cup to create elegant pieces for coffee.
Today, high-end japanese tableware includes handmade pottery coffee cups like the Seika ceramic coffee cup set, crafted with the same care once reserved for tea.
The cups' surfaces feature kannyū (貫入), a fine, natural web of lines formed in the glaze, commonly known as crackle glaze or craquelé in Europe.
A modern habit, enriched by centuries of craftsmanship that still preserve the spirit of wabi sabi.

Featured Focus

Seika, Blue Mist in the Air

The name Seika (青霞) brings together two kanji: 青 (sei), meaning blue or azure, and 霞 (ka), meaning light mist or haze. Together, they suggest the quiet beauty of blue mist at dawn, soft, shifting, and fleeting.

Like each ceramic coffee cup in the Seika set, the name reflects changing light and emotion held in form. Crafted in small batches, these handmade Japanese ceramics are more than tableware: they are moments of stillness, shaped by tradition and touch.
