The Akafuji Fujiyama Square Plate is a bold expression of pottery art meant to be lived with.

Handcrafted at Nunobiki-yaki by master Kazuhiro Kojima, it presents Mount Fuji rising in iron red beneath a darkened sky, framed by blossoming sakura at the base.

The Nanasai Tenmoku glazing technique, a layered coloring process, builds depth and soft transitions across the surface. Subtle variations in edge and glaze reveal the hand behind it, and an intentional wabi-sabi character, far from standardized production.

The defining feature of this plate is its Nanasai Tenmoku (七彩天目) glaze, which depicts Mount Fuji in iron red beneath a dark sky, with blossoming sakura gathered at the base.
The layered glaze creates soft transitions and visual depth, turning the square surface into a compact ceramic landscape rich in atmosphere.

Born in 1972, Kazuhiro Kojima is a Japanese ceramic artist and son of Taro Kojima, founder of Nunobiki Kiln. Growing up surrounded by clay, fire, and his father's restless experimentation, the kiln was never a distant place. It was home.

After completing his studies at art college, he returned to Nunobiki and trained alongside his father, gradually developing a visual language distinctly his own. His signature subject is the owl, rendered using the Nanasai Tenmoku technique across a range of scales, from monumental ceramic statues to small, intimate accessories.

His pieces have been placed in hospitals, public institutions, and streetscapes, chosen for the sense of calm and quiet warmth they carry.
