The Aiwan Turquoise Bowl brings a clean mix of Japanese restraint and Western table balance, set in a deep turquoise glaze that reads cobalt at the rim.

Made with Shigaraki clay and finished by hand, the surface shows fine pinholes, soft speckling, and slight waviness that keep every bowl unique in a wabi sabi way.

The glaze breaks lighter on edges and settles darker in the curve, so it looks different in morning and evening light.

Use it for small salad, pickels, fruit, or sweets, and leave it out on open shelving as everyday pottery.

Maruju has been part of Shigaraki's pottery tradition since 1937, based in Shiga Prefecture's Shigaraki, one of Japan's six ancient kilns.
The kiln combines traditional Shigaraki forms with modern design, reimagining classic shapes through vivid glazes like turquoise.

Freshly fired pieces are known to ring with a distinctive bell-like chime. Maruju's range spans tableware, kitchenware, and decorative objects, blending heritage techniques with a contemporary touch for everyday use.
