There is a quiet strength in this 13" (330mm) Mokurin plate, shaped from a single block of Tochi (栃 ,Japanese horse chestnut), whose pale and honeyed bands move naturally across the surface.

Turned and finished by hand in small batches, the gentle curve and clean edge reveal the discipline of traditional woodturning rather than machine precision.

The grain remains the central design.

Even as an artisanal wood piece, your Tochi plate is made for everyday meals, not for display.
A thin layer of food-safe polyurethane protects the surface while preserving the natural feel of the wood. It simply rewards calm, gentle handling.

Maintenance

No Harsh Appliances: Avoid the dishwasher, microwave, and oven.
High heat, long cycles, and steam can stress the wood and its protective finish.
Gentle Cleaning: Wash by hand with lukewarm water, mild soap, and a soft sponge. Do not soak. After rinsing, dry thoroughly with a soft cloth.
