Crafted, Not Cloned

A Cup That Reflects Who You Are

At the end of the day, the choice is yours.
You can pick something mass-produced, just like millions of others. Or you can choose differently.
Our Mokune wooden cup is carved from solid Keyaki wood, shaped slowly by hand, with grain patterns that can never be repeated. No molds. No shortcuts. Just natural beauty, formed by time, care, and the quiet rhythm of skilled hands.
We believe objects should reflect the people who choose them, unique, thoughtful, and unmistakably real.
You deserve that kind of quality, that kind of presence.
And if that’s what you're looking for, we made this yunomi cup for you.

Slow the Rush

Find Stillness in the Everyday

In a world of constant motion, even five quiet minutes can feel like a gift.
That’s what this cup offers. A pause, a breath, a gentle ritual away from screens, deadlines, and endless noise.
Shaped from Japanese wood with a naturally fine grained wood surface, each of these handmade tea cups feels warm, grounded, and personal.
It doesn’t ask for attention, it invites you to slow your pace. To pause. To reconnect, quietly, one sip at a time.

The Journey Behind the Grain

From Forest to Form, With Care

In the wooded hills of Nara Prefecture, near the ancient Tōdaiji Temple where deer wander freely, the Tokuda Meiboku carries on a deep-rooted tradition.
Each handmade teacup begins with a piece of Japanese wood, shaped slowly on traditional wood lathes guided by skilled hands.
The name Tokuda Meiboku means “precious woods of Tokuda”, a quiet tribute to the material they honor.
With every curve, the Mokune wooden cup reflects a devotion to form, nature, and time, an expression of true Japanese craftsmanship.

Cultural Notes

A Quiet Tradition, Held in Your Hands

In Japanese culture, the yunomi tea cup (湯のみ) is not reserved for rituals or guests. It’s an object of daily comfort, used for tea, yes, but also for the quiet moment it invites. It reflects an appreciation for pause, for presence.
Pair that with the deep respect for wood in Japanese woodworking art, and you find a tradition where vessels are shaped not only for function, but for feeling. Grain, weight, warmth, every detail matters.
The wooden cup becomes part of life’s rhythm. With Mokune, you don’t just hold a drink. You hold memory, season, and intention.

Wooden Cups Q&A

Featured Focus

Where Wood Finds Its Voice

Mokune is written using the Japanese characters for wood (木, moku) and sound (音, ne). Together, they evoke the quiet harmony between nature and craftsmanship.
The name expresses what words often cannot, the presence, warmth, and stillness that emerge when wood is shaped by human hands.
This wooden cup, made from natural wood and inspired by the timeless form of the Yunomi, is carved from Keyaki, a revered Japanese hardwood. Each piece resonates with a one-of-a-kind grain and subtle tone, offering not just utility, but a feeling.
Not mass-made. Not found just anywhere.
Mokune is for those who choose something rare, intentional, and deeply personal.
