The Komorebi Yunomi Teacup Set brings fine ceramic artistry into everyday life.

Handcrafted by master potter Kazuhiro Kojima, each yunomi is finished with the nanasai tenmoku glazing technique, creating depth, contrast, and gentle highlights that shift as the cup moves through the light.

The softly rounded form, the subtle rim variation, and the layered glaze surface reflect a quiet wabi sabi sensibility, so each cup remains slightly different and clearly apart from mass-produced ware.

Enjoy it for daily teas such as sencha, hojicha, or koucha, and just as easily for a comforting cup of coffee.

Japanese Craftsmanship, Made Personal

A Yunomi Set Worth Your Quiet Moments

Ultimately, it comes down to what you want your everyday to feel like.

You can choose mass-produced cups that are perfectly uniform and easy to forget, or you can reach for teacups made by a real Japanese artisan, the kind that genuinely feels different. That choice is personal.
In a quiet way, it reminds you that your tea, your coffee, and the small pauses in your day deserve care, because you deserve care, too.

Keep one Komorebi Yunomi close for the moments you want to reclaim for yourself, and set out all four when you welcome someone special in.
These teacups turn an ordinary drink into a small act of self respect.

A Thoughtful Piece from Japan

A Present That Speaks Without Saying Much

When you want a gift to feel genuinely worthy, the Komorebi Yunomi teacup set offers more than something simply beautiful.

Made in Japan through a slow, attentive process, these four cups carry the touch of the maker in every step, and that care is easy to feel in the hand, on the table, and in the calm mood they create.

Their size suits tea or coffee and encourages a quiet pause that feels personal.
The komorebi motif adds a soft, refined presence, like shifting light across a still surface.

Because each cup is finished by hand, the glaze and tone vary slightly from one to the next. That natural variation is part of their wabi sabi beauty, not a flaw.

What makes this set a meaningful present is that it never feels generic. It reads as intentionally chosen, feels special the moment it is held, and leaves a warm impression when shared.
Most of all, it quietly tells the recipient they were truly considered.

From Nunobiki’s Family Kiln

Where It’s Made

The Komorebi Yunomi Teacup set is handcrafted by ceramic artist Kazuhiro Kojima of Nunobiki Pottery, a family-run kiln respected for its high level of artisanal and artistic skill, and for work finished with careful attention at every stage.

Kojima-san approaches his work with a monozukuri spirit, a deep dedication to making, improving, and finishing each piece with care.

Made slowly in small quantities, each of the four cups is formed individually, so gentle differences emerge naturally from one to the next.

The glaze, the balance in the hand, and the multi-toned komorebi motif carry his signature touch, making the set feel like more than tableware, a quiet statement of craftsmanship and intention.

Cultural Notes

The Yunomi Teacup, A Japanese Daily Classic

The Komorebi cups are yunomi (湯呑), traditional Japanese teacups created for everyday brewed tea.

The name explains their purpose clearly. It combines 湯 (yu), meaning “hot water,” with 呑 (nomi), meaning “to drink,” a straightforward description that reflects how naturally yunomi fit into daily meals.

Without a handle, yunomi are meant to be held directly in the hand, so the warmth of the drink gently carries through the ceramic.

They are commonly used for familiar loose-leaf teas such as sencha and hōjicha, enjoyed as part of normal routines.

They are different from a matcha bowl, or chawan (茶碗), which is wider and shaped specifically for whisking powdered matcha in the formal tea ceremony.

Choose the Tone That Fits Your Table

The Komorebi Yunomi Teacup Set is offered in two delicate palette options, each creating a slightly different atmosphere while preserving the same artisanal quality, thoughtful making, and quiet beauty for daily use.

Featured Focus

Komorebi, The Calm of Shifting Light

木漏れ日 (komorebi), The Gentle Play of Sun and Leaves

In Japanese, komorebi is written as 木漏れ日, a word reserved for a very particular kind of light, the soft brightness that slips through leaves and branches, then shifts as the air moves. It captures a moment that is calm and temporary, the kind you notice only when you slow down.

The meaning is built into the characters themselves. 木 (ko) is “tree,” 漏れ (more) suggests “filtering through,” and 日 (bi) points to “sun” or “day.”
Together, they describe sunlight finding its way between leaves, not as a dramatic beam, but as a quiet pattern that changes from instant to instant.

This sensibility lives in the Komorebi cup set. In the hand, the glaze and surface feel like a gentle scene rather than a flat finish, encouraging a slower sip and a more attentive pause at the table.
